For more than 100 years, the University of Minnesota’s College of Education and Human Development’s faculty, students, staff and alumni have had a profound impact on society. Whether it’s developing new educational technologies like FlipGrid, creating athletic wear for Muslim women or training a more diverse teacher corps to educate our next generation, CEHD’s diverse faculty and programs provide many opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations in teaching, outreach and research around the world.

SCG created a new logo and blog devoted to raising the college's profile and helping spread its research findings.

With an appreciation of the past and an eye to the future, CEHD sought to fulfill its mission in innovative, transformational ways. How does one institution improve lives of people across the globe? By converting leading research into a weekly blog written in everyday language.

SCG drew upon its knowledge and creativity to develop an innovative, cost-effective and engaging digital campaign. The agency worked with CEHD’s leadership to develop ImprovingLives.org, the first university blog to convert leading research to both fulfill its mission and support a capital campaign.
With practical advice on important topics ranging from literacy and autism to children’s mental health and domestic violence, ImprovingLives.org has become a trusted source for academics, parents and educators.

Our digital and design team crafted a custom-built CEHD Vision 2020 blog website.

SCG has promoted the blog through multiple channels, including a grant-funded Google AdWords campaign and print ads like the one above.

The amazing results? ImprovingLives.org weekly blog touches the lives of more than 15,000 people in all 50 states and in 220 countries acround the world each month. Along with a coordinated social media campaign, the blog has raised the profile of CEHD’s Dean Jean Quam, who has been recognized as one of the most influential deans of education in the U.S. The college’s U.S. News & World Report rankings have risen in several areas, and the blog has been the cornerstone of the Vision 2020 capital fundraising campaign, which has raised over $55 million to date.
